A prostate ultrasound scan is a non-invasive diagnostic test used to assess the structure and/or blood flow of the prostate. We offer two types, both performed by experienced sonographers in a private, discreet setting. If you’re not sure which one you need, read on and we’ll help you choose the right one.
Which scan is right for you?
Prostate & Bladder Ultrasound | £215
Best for: urinary symptoms, suspected enlarged prostate, or bladder concerns.
This scan assesses the size and structure of the prostate gland and bladder, including post-void residual urine volume. It’s performed transabdominally and is a good first step for most urinary symptoms.
Choose this scan if you have:
– Difficulty starting or stopping urination, or a weak flow
– A feeling of incomplete bladder emptying
– Bladder pain or discomfort
– A family history of prostate conditions, or you are over 50
Best for: detailed prostate evaluation, raised PSA, or ongoing monitoring.
This scan uses a transrectal probe with Doppler imaging to assess blood flow within the prostate, providing more detailed information than a standard scan. It’s often used for closer evaluation or monitoring.
Choose this scan if you have:
– Elevated PSA levels
– Been advised to have prostate cancer screening or ongoing monitoring
– A family history of prostate problems and want proactive screening
– Had previous prostate treatment and need monitoring
