Overview

This combined cardiovascular assessment brings together adult echocardiography (heart ultrasound) with carotid artery Doppler ultrasound and CIMT (Carotid Intima–Media Thickness) measurement. It is a non-invasive, radiation-free way to evaluate heart structure and function alongside key markers of vascular health, including carotid plaque/narrowing and early arterial wall thickening—both relevant to long-term cardiovascular risk.

What’s Included in This Package?

1) Adult Echocardiography (Heart Ultrasound)
A detailed ultrasound assessment of the heart, using high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of heart chambers, valves, and blood flow—helping assess how well the heart is functioning.
Your echocardiogram can help evaluate:
  • ✔ Heart size, structure, and overall function
  • ✔ Heart valves (including function and possible valve disease)
  • ✔ Blood flow patterns using Doppler
  • ✔ Cardiac pumping function (e.g., ejection fraction)
  • ✔ Potential causes of symptoms such as breathlessness, chest pain, palpitations, fatigue, or murmurs
2) Carotid Arteries Doppler Ultrasound + CIMT Measurement
A carotid ultrasound assesses the main arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. It can help identify plaque build-up, narrowing (stenosis), or blockages.
CIMT is a specialised ultrasound measurement of the thickness of the inner layers of the carotid artery wall (intima + media). Increased CIMT can indicate early atherosclerosis even before significant plaque is present, and may help refine cardiovascular risk assessment.
Together, carotid Doppler + CIMT provide:
  • ✔ Insight into carotid blood flow and potential narrowing
  • ✔ Early detection of arterial wall thickening
  • ✔ A more complete picture of vascular health and stroke risk markers

Who Is This Package Suitable For?

This combined scan may be helpful for:
  • ✔ Adults with cardiovascular risk factors (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking history, or family history of heart disease/stroke)
  • ✔ People with symptoms such as breathlessness, chest discomfort, palpitations, dizziness, transient vision changes, or unexplained weakness
  • ✔ Individuals with previous abnormal findings (e.g., ECG/chest X-ray) or known cardiac conditions requiring monitoring
  • ✔ Those seeking preventive cardiovascular screening, especially over age 40 or with multiple risk factors

Benefits

  • ✅ Non-invasive and safe (no radiation)
  • ✅ Real-time assessment of heart function and blood flow
  • ✅ Assessment of carotid plaque/narrowing plus an early vascular ageing marker (CIMT)
  • ✅ Helps guide next steps for prevention and follow-up with your GP/cardiologist

What Happens During the Appointment?

Echocardiography
  • – Typically 30 minutes
  • – Gel is applied to the chest; a handheld probe captures heart images
  • – You may be asked to change position or briefly hold your breath for clearer views
Carotid Doppler + CIMT
  • – Typically 20 minutes
  • – A probe is moved gently along both sides of the neck with gel applied
  • – Doppler assesses blood flow; CIMT measures arterial wall thickness during the same session

Results & Reporting

After your scan, you will have the opportunity to hear the initial findings verbally from our specialist.
Your full written report and selected images will then be sent to you within 24 hours, which you can share with your GP or cardiologist for ongoing care and follow-up.

Preparation

  • – No fasting or special preparation required
  • – You can eat and drink as normal

Please note: This is a combined package and the scans are performed by two different specialists. For this reason, your booking will be arranged first for the Echocardiography (heart ultrasound). Once your heart scan appointment is confirmed, our team will contact you promptly to coordinate a suitable time before or after your echocardiography for the Carotid Doppler + CIMT scan.

Important Medical Note

This assessment supports cardiovascular evaluation and prevention planning, but it does not replace urgent medical care. If you have severe chest pain, sudden weakness, facial droop, speech difficulty, or other emergency symptoms, seek urgent medical attention.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APPOINTMENT TIME:

As this is a combined cardiac and vascular service provided by different specialists, your appointment is initially scheduled based on the echocardiography (heart scan). The vascular scan is then arranged accordingly after booking. We aim to schedule both scans on the same day and as close together as possible; however, consecutive appointments cannot always be guaranteed. Our team will contact you shortly after booking to confirm the final timings for both scans.

Echocardiography: 30 minutes
Carotid artery Doppler & CIMT measurment: 20 minutes

Important Notice Regarding “Carotid artries & CIMT ultrasound”:

The terms Full Body Ultrasound, Full Body Plus Ultrasound, and Full Vascular Doppler refer to custom-designed scan packages created by our clinic. These packages combine ultrasound assessment of selected major anatomical regions to provide a convenient and structured screening option for patients.

These package names are not intended to imply examination of every organ or all body systems. In medical practice, each organ requires specific imaging techniques and protocols, and there is no single ultrasound examination capable of comprehensively evaluating the entire body.

We kindly advise patients to carefully review the list of organs and regions included in each package, which are clearly detailed on our website.

If you have any questions, our team is available via email, WhatsApp, or telephone.
