* Historically liver elasticity measurements started with the Liver Elastography machine, which introduced transient elastography (TE) as the pioneering technique for assessing liver stiffness. Over time, newer and more advanced techniques for liver stiffness assessment have emerged, but the term “Liver Elastography” has become a generic reference for liver elastography measurements, even when other technologies are used. This widespread usage of “Liver Elastography” as a blanket term for all elastography techniques is technically a misnomer.
