Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. If your GP or specialist has asked for this scan, bring their letter so the sonographer knows what to focus on.

Can I add the urinary tract or pelvis?

Yes. The booking form offers combined options in one appointment.

Can I upgrade to a full-body scan?

Yes. Where shown, the booking form offers a Full-body option that includes this area alongside the other organs.

What if I have severe pain?

Severe tummy pain, a high temperature, vomiting that will not stop or yellowing of the skin needs urgent advice: contact NHS 111 or your GP, or call 999 in an emergency. Do not wait for a private scan.

Why might I need an abdominal ultrasound scan?

Your doctor or clinician may recommend an abdominal ultrasound to investigate symptoms such as:

    • ✔ Abdominal pain or swelling
    • ✔ Unexplained weight loss
    • ✔ Jaundice (yellowing of the skin/eyes)
    • ✔ Kidney stones
    • ✔ Liver abnormalities or fatty liver
    • ✔ Gallstones

How do I prepare for the scan?

To ensure the best results:

    • ✔  Do not eat for at least 6 hours before your scan.
    • ✔  You can drink water, but avoid fizzy drinks or anything with caffeine.
    • ✔  Take your usual medications unless advised otherwise.
    • ✔  Diabetic patients should consult their healthcare provider for specific instructions.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No referral is required. You can book an abdominal ultrasound scan directly with us, either online or by phone with flexible payment methods.

Will I get my results on the same day?

Yes. We aim to provide same-day images and reports, via secure email.

What happens if something abnormal is found?

If the scan detects any abnormalities, your sonographer will explain the findings and provide a detailed report. You will be advised to share the report with your GP or specialist for further management.

How do I book and confirm the price?

Use the booking form on this page and follow its Next buttons. Choose your scan option and appointment time, enter the requested details, then review the price before completing the booking.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Preparation, made clear.

  • Do not eat for 6 hours before your appointment — an empty stomach gives the clearest view of the upper abdomen.
  • Sips of still water are fine; avoid fizzy drinks, milk and chewing gum.
  • Take your usual medication unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
  • Bring any previous scans, reports or doctor’s letters so the sonographer can compare and focus on what matters.

Booking this alongside another scan? Each scan keeps its own preparation. If anything is unclear, call us on 020 3318 1373 before your visit.

If you feel unwell, seek medical advice. This page is general information, not a diagnosis. For urgent concerns, contact your GP or NHS 111; in an emergency call 999.
