A full-body ultrasound brings together the scans most often used for health screening, so the main organs and blood vessels are checked in one visit. It uses sound waves only — no needles, no radiation.
Check the thyroid for nodules or enlargement, and the neck arteries for plaque and narrowing linked to stroke risk.
Look for fatty liver, gallstones, cysts and other changes in the upper abdominal organs.
Assess the urinary tract for stones, cysts and blockage, and screen the abdominal aorta for an aneurysm.
Women: uterus, endometrium and ovaries (transvaginal). Men: prostate, bladder and testes (transabdominal and testicular).
A full body ultrasound scan is a comprehensive, radiation-free health screening for both men and women. This detailed examination assesses all major internal organs, blood vessels, and soft tissue structures to ensure a complete overview of your body’s health. It helps with the early detection of potential abnormalities, even before symptoms appear, offering reassurance and peace of mind.

Important for Women:
Our standard full-body ultrasound scan does not include a breast ultrasound. If you would like a breast ultrasound included, we also offer a Women’s Full Body Plus Ultrasound Scan, which covers everything in the full body scan plus a dedicated breast ultrasound. You can view this option here.
Thyroid – Checks for nodules, inflammation, enlargement, or thyroid disease
Carotid Doppler – Measures blood flow; detects narrowing or blockages to prevent strokes
Aorta – Identifies silent aneurysms to enable early, life-saving intervention

From getting ready to discussing what comes next, here is a simple guide to your appointment.
A question before you book? Call usFamily history, symptoms, recent blood tests and medication all help the sonographer decide where to look most closely.
The sonographer works from the neck down to the pelvis, area by area. The internal (transvaginal) part for women is explained first and only done with your consent; a chaperone is available. It is painless and takes about 40 minutes.
The sonographer talks you through what they have seen, and your written report follows within 24 hours — ready to share with your GP or specialist.
Choose the location that works for you. Confirm your selected clinic in the booking system before completing your appointment.

No. You can book directly. If your GP or specialist has asked for this scan, bring their letter so the sonographer knows what to focus on.
Adults who want a broad health check, people with a family history of thyroid, kidney, ovarian, uterine or prostate problems, and anyone with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or smoking.
Full-body Plus adds an ultrasound of both breasts and armpits (axillae) to everything in the Full-body scan, and takes about 60 minutes instead of 40. You can choose either in the booking form.
A transvaginal scan gives the clearest view of the uterus and ovaries, but it is always explained first and only performed with your consent. If you prefer, the pelvis can be assessed through the tummy instead.
Ultrasound can show cysts, lumps and other changes in many organs, and is a useful first look. It cannot rule out every condition, and some findings need further tests to explain them.
A health check is for planned assessment. New severe pain, chest pain, sudden weakness or other urgent symptoms need your GP, NHS 111 or 999 — do not wait for a private scan.
A regular ultrasound typically focuses on one specific area (e.g., the abdomen or pelvis), while a full body ultrasound provides a comprehensive assessment of multiple organ systems, including abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, and vascular structures in one session.
Yes. While the full scan is designed for overall health screening, you can choose to focus on certain areas based on symptoms, medical history, or your doctor’s referral.
No referral is needed. You can self-refer and book directly with us. If any findings require follow-up, we will provide a report you can share with your GP or specialist.
If you’re healthy and symptom-free, once a year may be sufficient as part of a preventive screening plan. Those with medical risks may require more frequent monitoring based on professional advice.
