- Aesthetic risk reduction. Before injecting filler or threads, a sonographer can map the course of the supratrochlear, infraorbital, dorsal nasal and labial arteries in the specific area to be treated, flagging any variation from the “textbook” anatomy that could increase the risk of accidental vascular injection.
- Post-procedure evaluation. After treatment, ultrasound confirms where filler has actually settled, how deep it sits, and how it is integrating with the surrounding tissue.
- Complication assessment. If pain, swelling, asymmetry or a lump develops, ultrasound can distinguish between vascular occlusion, a filler nodule or granuloma, inflammation, or a fluid collection — and guide any treatment that follows, such as hyaluronidase.
