No. A private scan is extra reassurance, not a replacement. Keep all your NHS antenatal appointments and scans, and share our report with your midwife.
The sonographer will explain what they have seen, and it is written in your report so your NHS team can arrange any follow-up quickly.
Yes, if you would like to — just tell the sonographer at the start.
Choose the twins or triplets option in the booking form so we reserve the longer appointment each baby needs.

While routine ultrasounds are part of standard prenatal care, the anomaly scan is a more detailed and comprehensive examination. It provides a thorough assessment of the fetus's anatomy, including the brain, heart, spine, limbs, and other vital organs.
The anomaly scan assesses numerous aspects, including but not limited to: Brain structure and development. Heart structure and function. Spine and skeletal development. Abdominal organs. Kidneys and urinary tract. Limb development. Fetal growth and amniotic fluid levels.
Yes, the anomaly scan is a standard component of prenatal care and is typically recommended for all pregnant individuals between 18 to 24 weeks of gestation. It plays a crucial role in identifying potential issues early in the pregnancy.
The anomaly scan is usually performed using abdominal ultrasound, where a transducer is moved over the abdomen to create detailed images of the fetus. In some cases, a transvaginal ultrasound may be used for better visualization, especially in early stages of pregnancy.
Yes, the anomaly scan is considered safe. It utilizes ultrasound technology, which involves the use of sound waves and does not expose the fetus or the expectant parent to harmful radiation.
While the anomaly scan is highly effective in identifying many structural abnormalities, it may not detect all conditions. Some issues may become apparent later in the pregnancy or after birth. Additional tests may be recommended based on specific risk factors or findings.
Following the private ultrasound scan in phoenix ultrasound clinic, you can expect to receive your results within 24 hours. Subsequently, you can efficiently share these results with your General Practitioner (GP) or NHS healthcare team. This streamlined process facilitates the continuation of ongoing treatments or the initiation of new ones.
You will receive your results verbally immediately after the scan. Following the appointment, the sonographer will review the images and prepare a written report within 24 hours, with any recommended actions. The report and images will be sent to you, allowing you to discuss the findings with your doctor or physiotherapist if necessary.
